I'm going to put this as blatantly as possible; this is a load of crap. If there is one thing as essential to a society as its economic success, if not more so, it is culture. Our world and its numerous societies are given their individual "signatures" by what makes them culturally significant. Whether it be hollywood blockbusters for america, or the more contemporary artworks of Japan (or the east in general), these are what give cultures their individuality, and their inhabitants a way to enjoy life. People do not learn to master these arts late in life, they are learned within childhood and adolescence. And when is a better time to learn this than in schooling. School is not just a time to be prepared to get thrown into the workforce and slave away in a cubicle for 10 hours a day. ...
