Helnwein pt 2
My original suspicions were proven true, as the image was completely raw and not photoshopped. The image, as we know it now, is a close up shot of a little girl's face. She has a blank look on her face, signifying no discernible emotion and giving a atmosphere of innocence to her. I feel that there is no real hidden meaning behind the photo by itself, as knowing Helnwein's work, he tends to do a lot of work with people and faces. What's extremely interesting is that the image is of a massive scale but is in a location which is essentially hidden away in an industrial back alley. I think that this makes the name, "The Last Girl" very appropriate, because you would expect the last of something to be hard to find or hidden. I feel this really adds to the presentation of the piece, as it would not feel as special if it weren't shown in this way. I think its intended to be a scavenger hunt in this way, for those who are out wandering or are "lost" in e...

The portrayed fear in this photo seems to be the thought of being forgotten. This photo is successful at showing this fear the reason for this is since the photo is being burned it tries to show that it is being lost or forgotten. This was a good photo the strong light of the fire draws attention to the image and makes the focus very strong.
ReplyDeleteI think this conveys the fear of being forgotten very well. The angle of the camera is perfect and I can't think of anything that could make this better because it's like near perfect.
ReplyDeleteI think that this photo is conveying the fear of being forgotten. I think this photo was very successful because of the focus and how the picture that he is holding really stands out. Also, the fire with the contrast of the black background is very cool.
ReplyDeleteI think this fear is the fear of being forgotten. I think that this photo was very successful because it shows an old picture being burned like that person is forgotten. I don't know what I would change about this because overall I think its a very deep fear and this picture really portrays that.

ReplyDeleteThe photo is very well done- I think this photo shows the fear of being forgotten or forgetting everything. Like the angle you used in this photo.
ReplyDeleteI think this photo coveys a fear of being forgotten. I think this photo is very well done. I wouldn't change anything about this photo.
ReplyDeleteI think this picture portrays the fear of forgetting one's childhood and youth, in which the past is erased in a way with each passing day. I think this photo is very effective because the burning picture is probably a picture of him as a child and it burning is symbolic of it goin away and being forgotten. I can't think of anything specific I'd change except maybe just a personal artistic preference, I'd change the placement and dont of the name of the fear.
